Hello Swedish sailors,
Sorry this post is in English, but my Swedish is 'inte bra' to say the least.
I live in Sweden and have a Swedish registered boat, and I would like to get a VHF callsign and an MMSI number for my DSC VHF. Could anyone help me in how I would go about doing this in Sweden? I assume I need a VHF certification/licence from the appropriate organisation, and then to apply for an MMSI number from whoever is in charge of this in Sweden.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Tommy
MMSI in Sweden
Hi Tommy, Tommy here.
You can contact Stockholm Radio for this.
http://www.stockholmradio.com/en/
(1)
You will need a VHF license, you can get one by doing a small exam at Stockholm radio after a one-day intense training or a few evenings of training. The training costs around 4-500 SEK and then 200 SEK for the exam.
(2)
And then you need a permission from Post och Telestyrelsen to use you VHF.
http://e-tjanster.pts.se/vhf/
With this permission, you get your callsign and MMSI. You pay 145 SEK annually for the approval.
(3)
And you may optionally pay for the annual "sea-assistance" (Sjöassistans) service at Stockholm radio. I can recommend it as it gives you free assistance in case of trouble with your boat, and you can call Stockholm radio at any time for any kind of help or question.
It costs 585 SEK annually.
Regards Tommy

Re: MMSI in Sweden
Hi,
I also have to apologize for writing in English. My situation is similar to Tommy, but I am in Åhus. Does anyone know if I can make this test for the VHF license closer to Åhus, rather than in Stockholm?
I just bought a Hallberg-Rassy Monsun 31 and made a International Certificate with Svenska Kryssarklubben.
Thank you very much for any information you can provide.
Best Regards,
Luis

Basically, VHF tests (and, if successful, a certificate/Blue Book note) can be had in many sailing clubs. Check out http://c4ss.se/Luis skrev:Hi,
